Sick & Ageing Journey (Part 4) - on 2nd Septemberr 2022

I had written Sick & Ageing for Part 1, 2 &3 earlier as my background reference. There are other ageing illnesses nevertheless as I am ageing along my lifestyle or life-journey.

Here, I like & want to highlight only my heart disease + Kidney Failure at ESKD & possibly my deafness circumstances since about 4 or 5 years ago as I no more able to use any powerful external hearing aids!

By this 22nd October 2022, I shall be touching my 8 years of haemodialysis (HD) treatment or therapy. Meaning I must depend upon a dialysis machine for survival for the rest of lifestyle or lifespan. My dialysis machine is called as Artificial Kidney (AK) Machine for which I have to solely rely for treatment or therapy 3 times on weekly basis in addition to other conditional factors too. They must be working in parallel in my daily living life-journey. I am on 1-3-5 noon shift since day 1 in 2014 October 22nd.

I began my first critical disease was my heart blood vessel restriction or blockage in 2009. I went through successful angioplasty balloon & the main cause was probably got something to do with my contamination of my blood stream due to high blood pressure as a result cholesterol. Then in 2012 to 2013 or perhaps even earlier then I began to have my kidneys disease. My medical records all in SGH since I went for my renal specialists' healthcare from time to time or case to case basis. It was purely on medication advice though but lack of medical advice or supervision like today in MOH which had emphasized & fight for the diabetic & hypertension topic! For which they have full of dieticians programs + exercise program too etc.

By July 2014 I was told & advised for my AV Graft surgery to standby my haemodialysis (HD) treatment or therapy. By October that year I got very painful gout attack on my legs. My creatinine suddenly shot up to 1000+. I was admitted to SGH & immediately I had my first ever haemodialysis (HD) treatment or therapy there onward.

I was first engaged in private clinic for about 6 months after discharged from SGH before finally engaging with NKF Singapore for my normal routine haemodialysis (HD) treatment or therapy in 2015 March 20th. So far I am quite satisfied & happy with my dialysis treatment or therapy in NKF Singapore as my 2nd home, nevertheless.

Since I had been mindfully about my each session of HaemoDialysis (HD) despite totally as a deaf dialysis patient as I am truly lack of face to face communication & interaction. However, I have much to learn & pick up here & there or bits & pieces for my Artificial Kidney yet!

This is after our Singapore restriction on Covid-19 Pandemic period, it is gradually opening up by MOH & perhaps NKF will soonest follow up too. As such in 2022 we have begun our events or activities after quietness for years. I have since last year began to learn & pick up quite a few fresh things through NKF supervision & guidance.  Things like online virtual meeting or workshop & Gym Tonic Exercise & other therapeurtic session of workshops as part & parcel of treatment & I of course also began to meet more social friends too! So far so good for me personal lifestyle & ageing journey too. My family is very satisfied & happy seeing I am quite an independent patient apart from deafness yet with full confidence & courage to face the world once again! Thank you Singapore. Singapore Boleh Lah & Majula Singapura!
